Religious Liberty at Stake

 

Bill 23-07 has no religious exemption. Contrary to the proposed Federal EDNA bill, Bill 23-07 has no religious exemptions. Catholics schools, hospitals, and churches will be forced to hire transgenders. Besides the obvious concerns of having a transsexual or cross-dressing kindergarten teacher at your local Catholic school, laws like these are used attack the right of churches to preach the Gospel.

 

Christians are being arrested, sued, fined, or ordered into silence when we attempt to voice our Biblical beliefs in the public square. Slowly, deliberately Christian voices are being muted with the help of activist legal groups, the authorities, news media, Hollywood, and academia. The unwillingness of the churches to take a stand against such affronts will assure Christianity’s demise.

 

Michael Swift, a hero in the "gay revolution" hopes for the day when "All laws banning homosexual activity will be revoked....[W]e shall make films about the love between heroic men....The family unit – spawning ground of lies, betrayals, mediocrity, hypocrisy and violence—will be abolished....All churches who condemn us will be closed."

 

Children are targeted in our public schools, as early as kindergarten. Parents that try to protect their children from early pro-homosexual indoctrination have been arrested. In Lexington, Massachusetts, David Parker was arrested for trespassing during a meeting with the principal of his son’s elementary school over a pro homosexuality lesson, contrary to the family’s religious beliefs. He was merely asking that Massachusetts law be followed regarding parental notification. He is shown here handcuffed during a court appearance.

 

David was objecting to his son’s 2nd grade teacher having read “King and King”, a fairy tale book describing how the prince decided to marry another prince instead of the princess. This was read to his child without prior notification. The court has ruled that David Parker has no right to opt his child out of such “experiences” while his child is in public school.
Elsewhere in the US, the 2007 San Francisco Street Fair openly mocked Christ and The Last Supper...

 

Further affronts, US:
•	A Catholic hospital is being sued for refusing to perform a breast augmentation on a transgender male.
•	A Kansas minister was arrested for preaching his faith on the sidewalk
•	A Southern Baptist Convention Presidential Candidate is recommending an “exit’ strategy from public schools.
•	The Kensington, MD Town Council passed a resolution endorsing same-sex marriage
•	Montgomery County, MD tried to ban pro-lifers from public sidewalks
•	In Texas, Seventh Day Adventist Christine Lutz says she was reading her Bible to her children when the bus driver told her “this isn’t the place, nor the time” to read the Bible and told her to stop or get off the bus.

 

Overseas:

We have just to look overseas to understand where these laws go next.

 

Canada Canadians are being viciously prosecuted under 'hate speech' laws. Canadians no longer have a legal right to speak out without fear of being prosecuted, fined, or imprisoned. Merely expressing an opinion through a letter to the editor, newspaper ad, personal website, etc. is being criminalized if they offend any member of their protected classes.
•	Catholic Insight in Canada has been targeted for publishing stories offensive to homosexuals.
•	Stephen Boissoin, a Canadian pastor, who was found guilty last month of inciting hatred for writing a letter to the editor condemning same sex marriage. Two weeks after the letter was published a homosexual was attacked. According to the logic of the Alberta Human Rights Panel his letter to the editor equaled 'hate' speech and 'hate' speech equaled a 'hate' crime by somehow provoking the attack.
Spain
•	A priest in Spain was sued for holding a seminar on “curing” homosexuality.
UK
•	Christian faces court over anti-gay flyers
•	How Britian is turning Christianity into a crime
•	British couple paid visit by police to “re-educate” them on their Christian beliefs
Germany
•	German Government published a book encourages fathers to masturbate their two year old daughters
•	Christian homeschoolers lose daughter to the state over refusal to send her to public school
•	German public schools advocate practicing “same-sex” pick up lines for 14 year olds.
•	Homeschoolers jailed in Germany

 

If your church believes in the Bible, and has not run a petition drive on Bill 23-07, won’t you please consider doing so? If you don’t help your flocks fight this, you may lose your ability to preach the Gospel entirely. All you have to do is look at what is happening overseas to understand where this goes next.

 

The impact on our children via the current Montgomery County schools' teachings cannot be denied. If our pastors don’t have an obligation to save the children, who does?
